Overview
Duba Explorers Camp is tucked away in the northeast corner of the 33,000-hectare Duba Plains Concession in the Okavango Delta. Surrounded by permanent and seasonal landscapes, the camp has exceptional views of water channels and grasslands from its unique island location.
Designed by former National Geographic Explorers Dereck and Beverly Joubert, the camp embodies the spirit of Botswana’s safari golden age. The camp has just five canvas tents with campaign-style furnishings, and guests can enjoy various activities, including boat or mokoro (canoe) excursions through the delta.
Rooms
Duba Explorers Camp offers five spacious and elegantly furnished canvas tents, each designed to provide guests with a luxurious and comfortable stay. The tents are raised on decking above the waters below, and each features a king-sized bed with mosquito nets and an en-suite bathroom with his-and-hers basins and showers.
Each tent also has a private verandah overlooking the Delta, along with a writing desk and a comfortable seating area.
Amenities
Duba Explorers Camp offers an immersive safari experience with a focus on comfort and adventure. Guests can cool off in the pool, unwind with spa treatments, or stay active in the gym. A tea and coffee station is always available, and complimentary Wi-Fi and laundry services ensure a seamless stay.
The camp provides binoculars for enhanced wildlife viewing, allowing guests to fully appreciate the surrounding wilderness. Thoughtfully designed communal spaces create a relaxed atmosphere, making it the perfect retreat after a day of exploration.

A Typical Day
Guests embark on twice-daily game drives, one in the early morning and the other in the late afternoon. You’ll traverse the terrain in customized, open Land Cruisers, getting up close to the animals in their natural habitat. The wetlands surrounding the camp are a haven for numerous unique species, and a lucky few may spot spotted-necked otters swimming and feeding during the flood season.
Guided walks are also available within the conservancy, allowing guests to appreciate the breathtaking landscape on foot, under the watchful gaze of a knowledgeable guide. It’s a tranquil opportunity to soak in the beauty of nature. Alternatively, visitors can join a catch-and-release fishing trip during the slow mid-day hours. As the sun sets, drinks are enjoyed before gathering for an al fresco dinner under the star-filled African sky.
