Why travel at this time

A beautiful time to visit Amboseli as crowds thin out and the rains return to the park. Mt Kilimanjaro is best viewed after rains clear dust from the air, giving clarity to the landscape. The parks’ lakes and marshes come to life during the rainy months, attracting the migratory flamingos.

Climate

Amboseli is fairly arid, however November is the 2nd wettest month, with just over 100mm rain on average. The temperatures are still very warm at around 28C during the day.

Why travel at this time

Drier than the wet months, but still with some afternoon showers to clear the air, these months are popular months in Amboseli. Great views of Mt Kilimanjaro are still regular and the scenery is lush and green. Migratory birds settle in and the bush feels alive.

Rains drop down to some scattered showers generally in the afternoon. Temperatures are hottest this time of years at an average around 30/31 during the day.

Why travel at this time

Great rates are available during the wetter months and after Easter, the crowds really die down. The marshes and lakes fill with water, allowing wildlife to spread throughout the park and enjoy the new life that it brings. This is the best time to view the flamingos on Lake Amboseli.

This is the peak time to visit as a result of dry weather and easier wildlife viewing conditions. The temperature drops to a very pleasant 25C on average, which is the coolest it tends to get in this arid area.

Amboseli stays very dry during the long dry season with less than 10mm a month from Jul-Sep. Temperatures dip down to a “cool” 25C during the day.
