Nestled in Nairobi’s Langata suburb, the historic manor spans 12 private acres, part of a larger 140-acre indigenous forest. As one of Nairobi’s architectural gems, Giraffe Manor exudes an old-world charm reminiscent of the 1930s, an era when East Africa first became the go-to destination for safari enthusiasts.
Rooms
The original manor house boasts six distinct rooms named Betty, Daisy, Jock, Lynn, Marlon, and the Karen Blixen Suite. The interiors have been meticulously revamped, whilst carefully preserving its 1930s essence and rich heritage. Notable features such as art deco bathrooms, vintage furniture, and the namesake rooms speak volumes of the manor’s intriguing history.
In a bid to expand, 2011 saw the creation of The Garden Manor, located next to the original. Despite being erected nearly eight decades later, it successfully mirrors the aesthetics of the main house, utilizing reclaimed materials from the original era. The Garden Manor houses six charming guest rooms: Salma, Edd, Arlene, Helen, Kelly, and the Finch Hatton Suite.

Giraffe Manor is situated close to the Nairobi National Park, and day trips for safari can be easily arranged. The park stands as a unique testament to the wonders of nature, being the only national park located within a city’s boundaries. It shelters a vast variety of wildlife, from lions, leopards, and buffalos to zebras, antelopes, and giraffes, not to mention a diverse collection of over 400 bird species.
