Overview
Lelapa Lodge is a great option for families and groups, with a welcoming atmosphere that encourages a shared safari experience. The lodge provides opportunities for thrilling wildlife encounters, including the Big Five.
Located in Madikwe Reserve, the landscape surrounding Lelapa transitions from wooded hills to expansive savannah plains, characterized by rich red soil and dense sekelbos thickets. As you venture west into the 75,000-hectare reserve, the terrain gradually shifts to the drier, sandy plains of the Kalahari. This diverse environment hosts a variety of ecosystems, providing a habitat for numerous species.

Safari
Safaris from Lelapa Lodge are particularly unique, as it is one of the few locations where the Aardwolf, Brown Hyena, and Spotted Hyena all coexist. In addition to the chance to encounter Africa’s Big-5, the Madikwe boasts thriving populations of Cheetah and Wild Dog, along with what’s known as Africa’s Secret-7: Aardvark, African Wild Cat, Civet, Large Spotted Genet, Pangolin, Porcupine, and Serval. To ensure optimal viewing, each sighting is limited to three vehicles, with opportunities for off-road tracking through the bush.
While vehicle safaris offer the advantage of covering more terrain and spotting more wildlife, exploring the African bushveld on foot provides an exhilarating experience, allowing guests to appreciate the intricate details often overlooked from a vehicle.
