Overview
The Highlands is an award-winning camp situated to the north of the world-famous Ngorongoro Conservation Area in Tanzania, one of the most instantly recognizable safari destinations on Earth.
The Highlands reminagines the Ngorongoro Crater experience with its unique design and its location on the edge of a forest surrounding the Olmoti volcano. As the highest property in the area, it offers stunning panoramic views, with both sunrise and sunset visible from the camp.
Rooms
The Highlands boasts eight domed suites, each constructed out of canvas and perspex, and are immersed in the lush tree line, offering superb views of the surrounding landscape.
The camp also has a family suite as well as a honeymoon tent with a private hot tub.
Amenities
Each room includes a king-sized bed and an en-suite bathroom, as well as floor-to-ceiling windows and a private, curved deck.
Other amenities in each tent include a wood burning stove for the colder nights, as well as a complimentary laundry service.

Safari
The camp’s location on the slopes of the Olmoti Crater offers a secluded and serene setting away from the more crowded areas of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This high-altitude position not only provides breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes, including the Empakaai and Olmoti craters, but also allows for a diverse range of activities that go beyond the typical Ngorongoro safari.
One of the highlights of staying at The Highlands is the opportunity to explore the lesser-known areas of the region, such as the remote and pristine Empakaai Crater, which offers a quieter and more intimate wildlife experience. Guests can also enjoy guided walks directly from the camp, including hikes up the Olmoti Crater, which provide a deeper connection to the landscape and its natural beauty.
