Overview

Beho Beho is situated atop the cooler highlands, away from the banks and flood plains of the Rufiji River. Its name, derived from the refreshing ‘cooling breezes’, speaks to this unique location. Maintaining its identity as a private camp, Beho Beho has fiercely guarded its exclusivity, making it one of the most enchanting safari destinations in Africa.

Unlike typical camps, Beho Beho does not offer tented accommodations; rather, it features individual stone-built cottages with palm-leaf thatched roofs, called ‘bandas’. Unlike the typical image of a sprawling safari lodge, it embodies the essence of a private residence nestled in the wilderness.

Rooms

The bandas at Beho Beho are spacious and airy, and have been thoughtfully designed to catch even the gentlest breeze, which is essential given the camp’s location seven degrees south of the equator.

Enhancing the sense of openness, the main suite area lacks a front wall or windows, seamlessly flowing onto the front verandah of each banda. For those preferring a bit more privacy, ingenious tenting material curtains with gauze windows can be drawn across at night. From the verandah, guests are treated to breathtaking views of the untamed wilderness, teeming with a diverse array of wildlife.

Amenities

Each banda features a gorgeous king-sized bed draped with mosquito netting, as well as a separate dressing room with a personal combination security safe. The bathroom has twin wash hand basins, a high flush toilet and an open-air shower that allows guests to shower while observing wildlife. Toiletries including shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion, are provided, along with a hairdryer and his-and-hers bathrobes and slippers.

Other amenities include oversized lounge chairs to relax in, as well as a luxurious a Zanzibari daybed, plus a writing desk stocked with postcards, Persian carpets, and a tripod-mounted telescope for private game spotting. Adjacent to each banda, seasonal plunge pools and individual sunbathing decks offer private spaces for guests to relax and cool off while enjoying uninterrupted game viewing.
