Overview
Jongomero Camp is located in a quiet corner of Ruaha National Park, along the banks of the seasonal Jongomero River. Ruaha, Tanzania’s second-largest national park, is notable for its unique position where Eastern and Southern biomes meet, resulting in a rich diversity of wildlife, plants, and birds.
The camp blends seamlessly with its surroundings, situated under the shade of the trees that line the river. With its position on the river bend, the camp’s bar, lounge, and restaurant all provide fantastic views of the water. Jongomero’s open terrace, covered by a thatched roof, features comfortable seating made from reclaimed wood from a dhow – a traditional trading boat – which makes for a relaxing spot to enjoy the tranquil wilderness.
Rooms
The camp comprises ten canvas tents sheltered beneath a thatch roof. Their interior decor boasts earthy tones that include sandy shades of orange, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Each tent features a shady veranda at the front, providing guests with breathtaking views of the river and its inhabitants.
Most tents boast impressive 180-degree views, while one offers an exceptional 270-degree view. For families or larger groups, an extra bed can be added to each suite, accommodating travelers aged 18 years or younger.

Guests are greeted by a magnificent dhow-wood emperor bed complemented by bedside tables, lighting fixtures, a writing desk with a chair, and cozy floor mats. En-suite facilities, located behind the bedroom, include a flush toilet, twin wash basins set upon a stand with a mirror, and a convenient walk-in shower. Additionally, a wood-and-metal storage unit offers ample space for storing clothes and personal belongings.
The camp’s dining area serves delicious meals, offering a mix of international and local cuisine. The lounge is ideal for relaxing and socializing, with its comfy seating and well-stocked bar, while outside there is a refreshing swimming pool. In the evenings, guests can gather around the campfire for storytelling or stargazing.
