Overview

Olakira Migration Camp’s mobility allows it to follow the Great Migration across the Serengeti. This means guests are always in prime locations to witness one of nature’s most spectacular events. Starting in the southern Serengeti during calving season, the camp then moves north to the Mara River during the dramatic river crossings.

The camp’s remote and intimate setting provides close encounters with not only the migrating herds but also the predators that follow them, such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. The guiding at Olakira is exceptional, with experienced rangers who share deep insights into the behavior of the animals and their habitats.

Rooms

The camp features nine thoughtfully designed canvas tents, including a spacious two-bedroom option that is perfect for families. Each is meticulously crafted to seamlessly blend into the surrounding environment, providing an authentic connection with nature while ensuring minimal environmental impact.

The design philosophy of Olakira focuses on sustainability, ensuring no trace is left when the camp relocates, to preserve the pristine beauty of the Serengeti.

Amenities

Each of the spacious tents have king-sized beds (or doubles upon request) and en-suite bathrooms, and have been tailored for stargazing, where guests can enjoy a 270° view of the night sky from inside the tent.

All meals are prepared and cooked at the camp, with ingredients sourced locally from farmers, and guests can choose to have these either inside the tent or under the stars.

Low Season

Pricing is more affordable in most safari destinations during the rainy seasons. However, it’s important to remember that Tanzania is a fantastic year-round destination with excellent deals available in the low season. Visiting during these months also allows you to avoid larger crowds!
