Overview

Classically designed to be in keeping with traditional camps of old, Oliver’s Camp offers a low key yet luxurious safari experience. Its location near the Silale Swamp ensures that guests have excellent opportunities to observe elephants, lions, leopards, and a variety of bird species, whilst the camp’s 15 spacious canvas tents blend seamlessly with the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Oliver’s central lounge and dining areas are designed with comfort and style in mind, featuring a cozy atmosphere perfect for relaxing after a day of adventure. Guests can enjoy dining under the stars with meals prepared from fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and the camp’s staff’s warm hospitality makes each stay truly memorable.

Rooms

The 15 canvas tents at Oliver’s Camp provide a luxurious yet authentic safari experience, designed to integrate into the natural surroundings of Tarangire National Park. Each of the tents offer en-suite open-air bathrooms, allowing guests to enjoy the sounds and scents of the African bush.

The tents are elegantly furnished, featuring comfortable beds, private verandas, and thoughtful touches that create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The tents combine comfort with a sense of adventure, providing an intimate connection with the wild landscape outside.

Amenities

Guests are served three meals per day, all of which are prepared and cooked at the camp, using locally sourced ingredients from nearby farms and villages. Other amenities at Oliver’s Camp include a complimentary laundry service, lock boxes in each tent and battery charging facilities.

In the main area, a central lounge and dining space invite guests to unwind, enjoy meals, and socialize. Oliver’s also features a swimming pool – a revitalizing oasis amongst the rugged surrounding landscape.

Safari

Safaris take place at the coolest times of the day which is when the animals are at their most active, both early in the morning and late in the afternoon.

The morning game drive begins with a wake up call with tea and coffee followed by breakfast either at the camp or packed for your drive. The safari will end at around mid morning, giving you plenty of time to freshen up before lunch.

After lunch and a relaxing afternoon, it will be time for the evening drive, complete with sundowners in the bush. This is then followed by a delicious dinner under the stars.

Night Drives

Experience the unique nocturnal behaviour of Tarangire’s animals, including stealthy leopards on the hunt, the distinctive call of hyenas, and the elusive African civet moving through the underbrush.

Big Cats

The camp is ideally situated in a remote area of the park, far from the typical tourist paths. This location allows guests to observe lions, leopards, and cheetahs.

Low Season

Pricing is more affordable in most safari destinations during the rainy seasons. However, it’s important to remember that Tanzania is a fantastic year-round destination with excellent deals available in the low season. Visiting during these months also allows you to avoid larger crowds!
